Toni and Victor's Nigerian Catholic Wedding at St. Ann's Cathedral and Victoria International Marina

A wedding with not one, but TWO beautiful venues. With the ceremony at St. Ann’s Cathedral and the reception at the Victoria International Marina, this album shows the perfect mix of Victoria’s historic architecture and oceanside living.

I’m just going to cut right to the chase and show you my favourite shots of the couple. As much as I love pretty venues, the bride and groom portraits will always be my favourite!

Caught one of the Harbour Air Sea Planes landing.

This was the first look. At the boardwalk next to the docked yachts. I was perched in the corner towards the edge of the water to capture these shots and I just love how the water is unobstructed by a railing. (A little intense being so close to the edge but I am used to it).

Some getting ready shots with the bride. This one looks like one of those “accidental renaissance” photos so I had to include it.

The ceremony space at St. Ann’s Cathedral was like a fairy tale.

The catholic ceremony was deeply spiritual and unique to many of the weddings I shoot. There is an directness when talking about the longevity of marriage and a sense of humour when describing the natural obstacles that could occur. I remember the laughter and prayers. But the moment that stood out to me was when the entire chapel said their own blessings out loud to the couple simultaneously. It was such a profound feeling!

Reception details. How beautiful is this draping? Imagine enjoying dinner here surrounded by ocean views and the setting sun. The crystal clear chairs just made the room feel especially opulent.

The oceanside theme carries on through the pearl details on the cake.

A grand entrance and so much dancing! I love to see it.

The first dance with each other and their parents to traditional Nigerian music. I don’t think anyone could stop their feet from tapping along (even me).

Then the couple changed into traditional attire and took to the dance floor. I started snapping away when I saw a single dollar bill throw at them. Huh?

This is a Nigerian wedding tradition where the guest through money at the couple while the dance. It symbolizes prosperity, financial abundance and communal support from their friends and family for their marriage. What a fun celebration, the whole room was dancing.

It was such an honor to capture my first Nigerian wedding and in such stunning locations. What a privilege it is to witness the worlds cultures through wedding celebrations.
